Dear Laissezfaire, Thank you so much for your response. I have been thinking abut what you said & I hadn't really thought of it that way - good points both of them.

)
I know that God blessed many of the OT fathers with material things - Its just that I feel that Jesus did a new take on "things". Well, I kind of try & think ( when I remember- oh weak woman that I am!!) I guess I am guided by the thought - what would Jesus do & that's kind of where I'm coming from.
Food for thought for moi

PS thank you to your husband for letting us use his blog as a forum!!! :-) BTW - I think todays post that he did - 28th Nov - is a good addition to this topic :-

Hi Creative Flair Chic, Thank you for your comment. This is a tough one and is something I struggle with quite often as a designer, web surfer and one with a soft spot for beautiful things. =)

First of all, while Jesus does warn us about the danger of material possessions, I do not think he calls everyone to a "simple life" which I take it to mean an austere lifestyle. I believe the danger with material possessions comes when it becomes our identity...an idol that is more important than God.

Secondly, concerning things that apparently do or do not matter. I don't think we can really know for sure. God designed the world for a purpose and most things in it do matter to Him. We should not assume that if something does not relate directly to obvious God's purpose, it's worthless. The challenge for us all is how we can use the gifts God has given us to represent him and to find creative ways of bringing our faith into our activities.

Dear Su, Lovely to know you are a Christian & A strong one at that by the looks of things .
As a relatively new blogger I am wondering - does one ever reconcile ones faith & the call of Jesus to a simple life & not being ensnared by " the things of this world" with the fact that I spend most of the time surfing the web for things that really dont matter & wont count in heaven and actually dont even exist in reality but float around cyberspace.
i am very interested as it is something I wonder about very often. I have mother theresa quotes next to 500Euro a night hotels!! Hmmmm

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts :-)
