First of all, while Jesus does warn us about the danger of material possessions, I do not think he calls everyone to a “simple life” which I take it to mean an austere lifestyle. Secondly, concerning things that apparently do or do not matter. I don’t think we can really know for sure. God designed the world for a purpose and most things in it do matter to Him. We should not assume that if something does not relate directly to obvious God’s purpose, it’s worthless. The challenge for us all is how we can use the gifts God has given us to represent him and to find creative ways of bringing our faith into our activities.
